Thank you for your feedback, Dong. We use a satin-gloss varnish on our canvas prints - this is a deliberate choice grounded in oil painting tradition and how light interacts with pigments. The original masterworks by Rembrandt, Caravaggio, and Monet were painted with pigments mixed with linseed oil (naturally glossy) and finished with a glossy protective varnish. This reflective surface creates the three-dimensional effect that gives oil paintings their characteristic depth, particularly in the dark tones. A matte finish would flatten this effect - dark areas would lose their richness and appear at the same visual weight as lighter areas, making the painting look two-dimensional.
